WALTZ TIME'S 20th ANNIVERSARY FOR VIENNESE WALTZ LOVERS MONTHLY WALTZ PRACTICUM 2015 WALTZ SCHEDULE

Twenty Years and Counting!
Thanks to you, Waltz Time is celebrating an anniversary this year, the 20th! In honor of this milestone, we're planning a special afternoon dance on Sunday, November 15. Join the festivities in the Spanish Ballroom. There will be cake, music by the incomparable Cabaret Sauvignon -- and a surprise!

And, speaking of special dates . . . Be sure to check out the 2016 schedule just posted at Waltz Time's website. Bands will be added as soon as booked and confirmed, but you can mark your calendar now for the various Sunday afternoon waltzes and the annual "Evening with Strauss" Waltz Ball on April 30, 2016.

Viennese is for Lovers
If you love Viennese waltz, you can enjoy the dance locally and abroad in the coming months. Join "Waltz Week In Vienna," Feb 1-7, 2016, in the city that started it all. Classes, group activities, and evening social dances will run from Mon-Sat (Feb 1-6) with waltz balls at the Hofberg Palace and elsewhere available the preceding and post weekends (Jan 29-31, Feb 5-7). (As a bonus, the Snowflake Blues Festival takes place in Vienna Jan 29-31.) Full details and registration information are posted at Waltz Week In Vienna.

Closer to home, you can take Viennese waltz classes in Bethesda and join a Christmas ball in DC. The classes, Saturdays, Nov. 7-21, are held from 10am-1pm at The Ballroom, 5521 Landy Lane, Bethesda, MD 20816, and cost $80 for the series. Classes are taught by Herbert and Carol Traxler. Individuals and couples welcome. No prior dance experience required. For information/registration, contact: Margaret Bocek, 540-882-4808, margaret.bocek@gmail.com

Once you've mastered the movements, you can attend a Viennese Christmas Ball at Washington Golf and Country Club, Friday, December 4, at 7 pm, hosted under the patronage of His Excellency, the Ambassador of Austria. Enjoy a champagne reception, Austrian desserts buffet, selected wines and coffee. Cotillion of dancers performs all six Fledermaus Quadrilles as part of opening ceremonies. Join in the famed Radetsky March, dance the Fledermaus Quadrille No. 6 as done at midnight at the grand balls in Vienna and learn a folk dance taught during the evening. Dress is black tie/white tie. Tickets are $120 p/p, with complimentary valet parking. Reservations required: Margaret Bocek, 540-882-4808, margaret.bocek@gmail.com. Details also found on Waltz Time's Facebook Page.

Waltz, Practice, Waltz, Repeat
On the second Sunday of the month, from 2-4pm (unless otherwise noted), you can join an open waltz practicum to recorded music at the Community Center, 15 Crescent Road in Greenbelt. The dance studio is climate controlled and features a sprung wood dance floor. Note: You must wear dance shoes, since the venue doesn't allow street shoes on the dance floor. The next practicum, on November 8, starts at 3:30 pm; $5 suggested donation. For more information or to receive announcements, email Elliot Drabek: elliott.drabek@gmail.com.
