VIENNESE WALTZ CLASS | FAMILY DAY | GALA IN THE PARK | 2014 WALTZ SCHEDULE |
Waltz Time will present the 31sth Annual Viennese Strauss Ball on Saturday, May 3. This benefit event is always a highlight of the spring season, giving dancers a chance to strut their stuff in elegant attire while supporting Glen Echo Park.
The classical ensemble will feature OLDE VIENNA with Dave Wiesler, Alexander Mitchell, Elke Baker, Barbara Heitz, and Ralph Gordon. They will play a program of Viennese waltzes of varying tempos, with a sprinkling of other couples dances, including polka, schottische and tango. An introductory Viennese Waltz lesson at 8 pm is followed by dancing until midnight in the Spanish Ballroom. A Grand March, dance cards, Carousel rides ($1.25/person) and refreshments complete a perfect evening. $20/person. Please visit Waltz Time for more details.

You are welcome to dance any waltz style you prefer at the Strauss Ball on Saturday evening, May 3, but experienced dancers may want to brush up on your Viennese waltz for this night! You can "drop-into" the last class of the Viennese waltz series offered by Donna Barker and Mike Marcotte on Wednesday, April 30, 7:30 - 8:30 pm in the Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park. Participants should know the basic Viennese half-turn. Cost is $15 payable at the door. For details visit DanceDC.net.

Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles - treat your little ones to a fabulous day at the Park! This fun-filled annual event celebrates the opening of the Dentzel Carousel for its 94th season in Glen Echo Park and offers a full day of FREE performances and activities for families. Carousel rides are $1.25 - all other events and activities are FREE!
Performing at Family Day 2014 will be the award winning dance and performance groups Urban Artistry and Mr Gabe and the Circle Time All-Stars.

"Capture the Moment" is the theme for the 2014 Gala in the Park, which benefits the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture and honors Catherine Leggett and Photoworks.
The gala includes a reception, seated dinner, live music by the Tom Cunningham Orchestra, dancing in the historic Spanish Ballroom, awards ceremony, silent auction, and rides on the 1921 Dentzel carousel.
Over the past several years, the Gala in the Park has been featured in Washington Life magazine, WTOP's "Man About Town" with Bob Madigan, and The Washington Post's The Scene.
Waltz Time is proud to be an annual supporter of the Gala in the Park Fundraiser and encourages dancers to join them in support of the Park's programs, while enjoying a fabulous evening of dining, awards, live music, and dancing to the Tom Cunningham Orchestra.
There are two tiers for attending the Gala - full reception and dinner/dancing ($200) or "dance only" ($25). To purchase tickets for the full evening, visit Gala in the Park, or to purchase advance tickets to the dance only, go to Gala Dance.

Upcoming Sunday Afternoon Waltzes in 2014Sunday Afternoon Waltzes begin with an introductory waltz lesson from 2:45 - 3:30 pm (unless otherwise noted), followed by dancing to live music until 6 pm.
