Sunday Waltz with RHAPSODY, February 3

No knowing what Punxsutawney Phil is going to say (in his way) this weekend, but the weather service says warmer on Sunday. Believe! Celebrate the balmy temps with RHAPSODY: Marty Taylor (winds, concertina), Alexander Mitchell (fiddle, mandolin), Dave Wiesler (piano, guitar) and Ralph Gordon (bass). Beginner waltz at 2:45 included with admission of $13 per person ($5 with valid student ID), payable at the door (cash or check only). Music from 3:30-6:00. No partner required and EVERYONE is welcome!

I thank you for organizing Waltz Time.

I would like to suggest that you play a greater variety of dance music. For example, you might organize music in groups of three:
    a fast waltz,
    a slow waltz,
some other ballroom dance ( Foxtrot, quickstep, swing, hustle, rumba , cha cha, tango , samba, salsa).
It is very repetitious to play three hours of almost entirely fast waltz.

Thanks for your comment. All the bands are advised that the required pattern for the afternoon dance is three waltzes followed by an “other” dance, e.g. swing, tango, hambo, etc., of their choosing. With rare exception, the bands adhere — and have adhered — to this pattern as part of the contract. We ask that they play a range of waltz tempos, both to provide variety and to challenge dancers of differing abilities. We suggest metronome settings between 120-170 beats-per-minute.

We look forward to seeing you at the ballroom. If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to any of the committee members. All wear identifying badges.
