Celebrate the Season, Friday, December 6, at Washington’s annual Viennese Christmas Ball held at the magnificent Beaux Arts’ Perry Belmont Mansion – a rare opportunity to attend a formal Viennese waltz ball at this beautiful venue just opened to the public for select events. Champagne reception, Austrian savories and desserts buffet, selected wines and coffee. Join in the famed Radetsky March, Austrian folk dances and the Fledermaus Quadrille No. 6, as done at midnight at grand balls in Vienna. Washington’s celebrated salon orchestra, Con Brio!, will delight with more of our favorite waltzes by Strauss, Lehar, Waldteufel and Tchaikovsky, polka, fox trot, tango and favorite holiday melodies arranged for dancing. Traditional Opening Ceremonies with performance of all 6 Fledermaus Quadrilles. Black Tie/White Tie and Decorations optional. Tickets: $150. Learn the Viennese waltz as danced in Vienna on Saturdays, November 9, 16 and 23, 10 am – 1 pm, The Ballroom, 5521 Landy Lane, Bethesda, Maryland, taught by Tanzmeister Herbert and Carol Traxler. No prior dance experience required. Individuals and couples welcome. Dancers will change partners frequently.  $85 p/p for the series.
