Protecting yourself and others

To add to the previous notice, if you have tested positive for Covid or have been exposed to the virus, please help us protect all our waltzers. We expect that everyone exposed or testing positive will refer to and follow CDC guidelines on isolation and quarantine to help protect themselves and others.

See our Facebook page for a link to CDC guidelines.

Covid notice

Waltzers, I just found out that one of our dancers, who was at the waltz last Sunday, tested positive today for covid, albeit with very mild symptoms. Though vax proof and masking are no longer mandatory, we strongly encourage you to be fully vaccinated and boosted and to wear a mask while dancing.

Stay safe. Hope to see you at the next waltz, October 2 with Waltz du Jour.

Vaccination update

After extensive deliberation, Waltz Time has decided to suspend the proof of vaccination requirements for dance attendance, effective Sunday, September 18. In considering the hundreds of attendees who have already registered their vaccination status with us, the diminishing rate of infections in the DMV region, and current CDC and Montgomery County recommendations, we’re confident that our dancers will feel comfortable attending the waltzes. We continue to encourage full vaccination, including boosters, and masks for those who prefer to wear them. We request that those with symptoms of illness absent themselves until recovery.

Note: Waltz Time may reinstate vaccine requirements if circumstances warrant.

Dance Showcase, 9/4, at 2pm

The next Waltz Time event is the opening act of the GLEN ECHO PARK LABOR DAY WEEKEND SOCIAL DANCE SHOWCASE. Click the link for more information about the the two-day event, September 4-5.

All the dances are free, but donations gladly accepted to help GEPPAC defray costs for this event.

There will be photography, painting, jewelry, sculpture in the Spanish Ballroom, and dancing in the Bumper Car Pavilion. This is a great chance to bring friends to a waltz (brief lesson included) and to give them a taste of all that Glen Echo Park has to offer.

Sunday Waltz, 8/21/22

Now that the weekend is over, it’s time to plan next weekend! Join Larry Unger and friends Ralph Gordon and Alexander Mitchell for an afternoon of waltzes (and perhaps a tango or hambo or swing for good measure–pun intended) in the Glen Echo Spanish Ballroom. Introductory waltz lesson at 2:45 is included with admission of $15 per person ($5 for children and full-time students), payable in cash or by check at the door. No partner necessary. ALL are welcome.

A reminder to test yourself for covid after attending a social dance where you were in close contact with others, especially if you know that someone in the group has tested positive. We’ve heard recently from two waltz attendees–one tested negative and the other, who tested positive, is in quarantine. If you are even slightly symptomatic or feel unwell, please test yourself. If positive, we ask that you wait until you test negative before coming to the next dance, which is on August 21 with Larry Unger, Alexander Mitchell and Ralph Gordon. Thank you for being considerate of your fellow dancers.
