Spread the Joy of Dancing!

So many of us feel a special joy when waltzing. Show your support of Waltz Time by encouraging others to attend our waltzes!

In addition to the rental fee for the ballroom, admissions to Waltz Time dances pay for the wonderful musicians who play for us. The more dancers, the more the musicians earn, so please consider forwarding this post to folks you haven’t seen waltzing in while or to a friend who might enjoy trying it. (For Facebook users, consider sharing on your timeline.)

Sunday’s Waltz on October 22nd will feature BLUE BAMBOO featuring Barbara Heitz (flute), Elke Baker (fiddle), John Devine (guitar), Marc Glickman (piano), and Ralph Gordon (bass).

For more information about our dances, visit waltztimedances.org

Next Waltz is October 8

There is no waltz on Sunday October 1. The next waltz is October 8 and will feature ADDISON BLEUFONTE with Andrea Hoag, David Julian Gray, David Lopez, and Marc Glickman.

Free Waltz on September 3rd

Steve and Gail dancing in the Bumper Car during a Fall dance.

As part of the Park’s Labor Day Weekend festivities, Waltz Time and Glen Echo present a special FREE dance in the Bumper Car Pavilion with WALTZING STARS TRIO: lovely Liz Donaldson on piano, amazing Alexander Mitchell on violin and marvelous Marty Taylor on winds and concertina. As always, there’s a beginner lesson at 2:45; music from 3:30-6:00. Although the dance is free, donations will be gratefully accepted for the band.

Waltzer Stephan Vitas recently alerted us to the following story from Medical Xpress: “Dancing can reverse the signs of aging in the brain.” Stephan commented, “But we knew it was good for us — right?”

Cabaret Sauvignon to Play Waltz August 6

Mother Nature’s going a little easier on us this weekend (only mid-80s!), so put on your dancing shoes and head to the ballroom for CABARET SAUVIGNON: Andrea Hoag (fiddle), Karen Ashbrook (hammered dulcimer, wooden flute), Dave Wiesler (piano, guitar) and Paul Oorts (button accordion, mandolin, banjo, guitar). Beginner waltz lesson at 2:45; no partner needed. Music from 3:30-6:00. Admission $10 pp, $5 for full-time students.

Sunday Waltz with TRIO

The aptly named TRIO — Liz Donaldson, David Knight and Carrie Rose — will charm you on the twenty-THIRD with music in THREE-quarter time. As always, a beginner lesson precedes the dance at 2:45; music from 3:30-6:00. No partner required. Admission is $10; half-price for full-time students. Please wear shoes that will be kind fo the historic ballroom floor.

Cabaret Sauvignon to Play Sunday Waltz

Good news/bad news: The bad news is that Jubilea cannot play for the waltz Sunday. The good news is that CABARET SAUVIGNON can!

The good news is that full-time students (and of course, kids) pay half-price admission. The bad news is that old people still have to pay $10.

In any case, come to the ballroom and dance to the music of Karen Ashbrook, Andrea Hoag, Paul Oorts and David Wiesler. You’ll forget all about the [temporary] disappearance of spring. Beginner lesson at 2:45; music from 3:30-6:00. Admission: see above. No partner required. Please wear shoes that will be kind to the historic ballroom floor.
